What’s behind each listing

FarmWander uses a downloaded USDA Local Food Directories export, with targeted API enrichments where they have been checked. Neither source proves that a market is active today.

What is usually available

  • Market name, address, coordinates, USDA record ID, and source update timestamp.
  • Payment and nutrition-program details for a minority of records.
  • Location notes, setting, and descriptions for some records.
  • Targeted API records may add websites, social profiles, season labels, and product categories.

What is usually missing

  • Normalized hours, seasonal dates, holiday exceptions, and time zones.
  • Vendor rosters and verified accessibility details.
  • A reliable active/closed status and a source URL for each material fact.

Publishing rules

The site does not calculate “open today” unless hours, season, exceptions, and local time zone are reliable. Contact-like strings and API contact fields are removed from public data. API check time is shown separately from the USDA record’s own update date.
